Ah, Guinness... What is left to say about the quintessential Irish Stout? If you've had more than ten beers in your life, chances are you've had a Guinness. Considering this is such a mass market beer, it still surprises me how strong the flavors in this beer can be. Guinness' extra stout is a a dry and bitter Stout that smells like burnt malts and sweet chocolate. The roasted malt carries through to your palate. You'll notice right off the bat that this Dry Stout lives up to its name.

For those folks who don't like Guinness beers, they usually cite this dry bitterness as the reason why they don't drink this beer. It can be a bit harsh, but if you can get past the charred malt you'll notice some sweet chocolaty notes and a nice creamy texture. Even though this beer is full of dark flavors, it doesn't feel super heavy. At 6% ABV this beer will definitely warm you up but with a slightly lighter than full bodied feel, it's possible to drink a few before calling it a night.
