Every once in a while there is a beer you see at the store and decide you've gotta try it. Coopers Vintage Ale is one such beer for me. When I saw this old timey bottle with a foil wrapped neck and a picture of a man with a pretty majestic beard, I was sold. The non-bearded parts of the label are as informative as they are bearded... There isn't much info about the style of beer in this bottle, other than the name "Vintage Ale" which sounds old. But this isn't an Old Ale style beer, it's an English style Strong Ale. Also, drinking this beer may result in gorgeous beard growth.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by Coopers Vintage Ale when I drank it. This beer is a nice rich brown color and is quite cloudy. The aroma coming from the pint glass is quite sweet, there are hints of apple and brown sugar. The flavor is a bit more subdued as far as sweet components go, but it still has loads of malt and an oily bitterness that works really well. This combination of flavors is really well balanced and this beer is very easy to drink, despite being 7.5% ABV.
